A 21-kiloton nuclear explosion from 1946, part of Operation Crossroads. If you want to see an incredible documentary on all of that nuclear testing, I highly recommend Radio Bikini, which I reviewed here. It’s out of print now, so if you can snag a copy somewhere, do it.

How Not to Sink a Boat

While it appears that all’s well that end’s well–there is injury in this vid but no death–the one thing that makes me nuts about this is the background music. Like the damn situation’s not hairy enough that we need Dramatic Musical Score (TM) to help us out. Sheesh.

Blowing a Hole in a Lake

I’ll be the first one to tell you that I’m not quite sure what’s happening here. However, from what I can tell, they needed to blow a hole in the bottom of a lake to meet the hole up with a tunnel that would lead to a hydro powerstation at the bottom of a mountain.
